Repetitive Strain Injuries
Repetitive strain injury, or RSI, is common and usually concerns the upper limb, although similar problems occur in the lower limbs from sporting activities. Our job is to ascertain what tendon is involved, off load it directly and then implement strategies to improve the dynamics of the area involved. For example, an injury to one of the thumb tendons will require analysis of current movement and positioning of the area, correction, sometimes stabilisation through splinting, modification of the environment where the problem occurs and gradual strengthening.
