Advance Physio Solihull

Nerve Injuries e.g. Sciatica / Carpal Tunnel

Nerve injuries range from mild pressure on a nerve, known as neuropraxia, to complete severance of a nerve, usually requiring surgery and extensive rehabilitation to retrain the motor and sensory aspects of the nerve and optimise the restoration of function. We have treated patients throughout this range of nerve conditions, although fortunately the more common presentation is the former. The problem may present itself as pain in the buttock and back of the leg, known as sciatica, or tingling in the thumb and adjacent fingers, together with hand weakness, known as carpal tunnel syndrome. There are many presentations and our job is to identify the cause of the symptoms and then to deliver a treatment which will relieve nerve pressure and allow recovery of both motor and sensory function.
